Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
When booking your appointment it would be helpful if you could advise the receptionist staff what the appointment is for, this enables them to book your appointment with the appropriate member of our Nursing Team and the length of time required. This not only helps our Nursing Team but also ensures that the correct amount of time is allocated and you see the appropriate nurse for your treatment. Knowing what the patient is coming in for helps the nursing staff prepare beforehand and ensures the appointments are kept to time and that the clinics run smoothly.
Your co-operation is appreciated. Thank you.
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
