Our Same Day Team are available for emergency enquiries which are required to be dealt with on that day. This will include a Duty Doctor, a Nurse Practitioner and possibly a Pharmacist. This may be over the telephone or face to face if more appropriate. Our reception team will play a key role in this process, so please do be prepared to give as much information to them as possible to enable them to sign post you so you get the best possible treatment.
Appointments with the GP’s are available to book in advance up to four weeks ahead by asking our Reception Team for a pre-bookable appointment. Appointments can be made by telephone, in person, or online on our website.
A small percentage of GP appointments and minor illness appointments are available to book from 4pm the day before the appointment is required. All remaining appointments are bookable on the day.
All appointments with the Practice Nurse Team are bookable in advance only.

We provide a Minor Injury Service to our own patients and temporary residents, i.e. holidaymakers during normal surgery opening hours. You do not need an appointment to visit the Minor Injury Unit at the practice.
Many people go to Barnstaple Accident and Emergency (A&E) with Minor Injuries when they could be treated more quickly locally.
In A&E, staff must give priority to serious and life threatening conditions, so if you go there with a Minor Injury you may have to wait a long time to be seen.
If you are not sure then phone the surgery or call 111, the New NHS non-emergency advice line
Patients whose illness prevents them from attending the surgery can be visited at home.
Please ring as soon as possible in the day, before 10.30am if possible so we can organise our workload, but please remember that your doctor can usually see at least three patients in the surgery in the time it takes to do a home visit. Therefore, if it is possible, please attend the surgery.
The doctor or nurse may phone you to offer advice, or to determine whether a visit is appropriate.
The doctors are happy to speak to you on the phone to offer you advice. If they are not available when you ring, please leave a message with our secretaries and the doctor will ring you back as soon as possible.
If you would like a chaperone in attendance during your consultation please tell the receptionist and this can be arranged for you.
